First Update of the Summer of 2008!

Hey you! Yes you!

It’s been a long time, and I know I’m long overdue for a good post. I have much to say but will save it for when the time is right. For now, I have been working on getting some final updates made with this version of SWD that I have had up since the late Fall of 2007. A cleaner layout. Improved banner. Sharper colors. It’s all much better for your eyes and mind. Cheers to progress, even if it is delayed!

Please take note that I have added a video production section in the left nav column, which includes two entirely new videos I produced in New Media Art this Spring semester! Feel free to leave comments for me — I would greatly appreciate them! A very deep and gracious thanks goes to those who helped me out with these short films. You all rock, and I love you!

This summer is planned to be jam-packed with colossal updates and changes as scottwerleydesign.com will be completely redesigned in high fidelity this summer (2008). Please stay tuned for exciting updates, including new photography galleries (now you can purchase prints straight from the site!), EDM mixes (professionally remastered!) and video work! Regarding DJ’ing: the Souldier VII DJ alias is still kickin strong, and will continue to be expanded upon in the months to come!

All this + more on the new Scott Werley Design, coming soon!
Transcending tradition … one beat, snap and click at a time.

Love from within,

SNC BRAWLERS - Premiere Showing!
Sunday April 06th 2008, 1:01 am

Hello fellow Brawlers, both @ SNC and beyond!!

The time has come for my first short film, SNC BRAWLERS, to be unleashed onto the world! For those of who who don’t know about the concept/idea, this film revolves around the events of the latest epic Wii release entitled “Super Smash Bros. Brawl.” This game is truly most excellent, and if you don’t have it, you should get it ASAP! It’s better than my mom’s cookies (I’m not kidding — don’t tell her I said this)! This short film is a tribute to the release’s epic proportions of genuine multiplayer action, and it brings a whole new understanding of what it means to be a BRAWLER. What more could you want, really?

Next Sunday night (April 13th) starting at 9 pm, catch the PREMIERE showing of the film in the basement of 3M! Also, chat it up with the cast and hear about how awesome and rediculously fun this film was to make! For your convenience, popcorn and pop will be provided during the 6-7 minute movie presentation! Huzzah!!!!

Once I get the chance, I will probably be making DVD’s. If you would like one, please let me know. They will be available for a small fee around $3 each (basically the blank DVD cost). I will also find a way to put up the movie on my website, through YouTube or whatever I can work out. I’ll keep you dudes and dames updated on such stuff.

Also, NEXT YEAR (throughout the whole year) we will be working on a much longer film (20-40 mins) which includes all 35 of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl characters. And that means we need people — both males AND females. If you are interested in taking on a particular role, a sheet will be available during Sunday night’s showing for you to sign up for next year’s epic production. I will start writing the script over summer break. Think along the lines of the Subspace Emissary… it’s going to be one heck of a collaboration!!!

Once again…
WHAT: SNC BRAWLERS Premiere Showing
DATE: Sunday, April 13th
TIME: 9 pm
PLACE: 3M basement
*** Free food and drink provided ***

Thanks for the support! Please spread the good word. We’ll see you here!

Spring Break ‘08 Updates!

Good afternoon my brothers and sisters,

It’s the middle of Spring Break ‘08! I hope everyone is having a great time chilling out and spending time with their loved ones. Here’s a look at what I’ve been up to recently:

New Production Stills Gallery Up!
I have just finished uploading the Children of Eden Production Stills gallery! I encourage you leave feedback on the gallery page — constructive criticism is always helpful and helps me to better evaluate my work. If you would like to purchase prints, please let me know! =)

[OuteR HeaveN] Season III - Updates
Shortly, I will be updating my Outer Heaven mixes page (mix.014 and mix.015 are waiting for you!) and will be adding a page for my Winter Triad mixes as well.

The Seventh Virtue Project - “Seeing is Being.”
I have come up with a fantastic idea for a series entitled “The Seventh Virtue Project”, which will be a photographic print collection of imagery from the winter of 2005 up to the winter of 2008. This will be a reflection of the past 3 years of my life, the travels of my sentient cravings — where I’ve been, who I’ve met, what I’ve experienced… resulting in an intense image of my life and what it means to be alive. I’m guessing this will be an offline kinda project only (a first, right?) with an estimate of 75+ prints so I will keep you posted on its progress. This will take a large portion of my time for the rest of the year (or whenever time is available).

New Look Coming Soon!
SWD will also be changing its look here soon! With a new banner and color scheme in mind, the time draws near for something new. Other ideas are being considered as well… give me some time and motivation and I can give you my heart in its entirity through design.

All the best to you during Spring’s late emergence!

Two simple places
You wanted to go
Two simple things
You wanted to know

Everything around
I could not see
I wish I’d known
How much you loved me

Oh
We could feel this way forever

I watch the sun,
As it touches you while you sleep
You gave me something,
That I wanted to keep

I see you smile like a little child
And hold you crying when it all goes wild

Oh
We could feel this way forever

Design Galleries Now Up-To-Date!

To the souls of this planet and beyond,

Alas, I am completely out of energy with this post… I’ve been working for the past 48 hours on my graphic design portfolio (both online and off) and I am proud to say that I am caught up with everything! This brings me such happiness to say these words… I’ve wanted to announce this for the past year or so and haven’t been able to (due to time constraints). But now, please check out my design section to see what I’ve been brewing up. All of those hours spent at night in the studio at school are finally here for you to see. Please leave me comments and any constructive criticism you may have for me. I would appreciate it very much.

The Annual Student Juried Art Show at St. Norbert College is approaching fast. February 4th marks the cut-off time for submissions! I’m getting incredibly stoked for this exhibit as it marks one of the most important events of the school year for art majors. I will be submitting my clock illustration (in an 8″ clock frame), my Starkillers 20×30″ poster (in a black frame), and a black and white glossy print of my favorite afterhours photograph of 2007 entitled “Hush”. It’s of Dai and I gazing out at Minneapolis’ city horizonline in complete silence while standing on the shore of Lake Calhoun at midnight. I’m sure most of you have seen it already, but I don’t want to give away too many details here. Having these pieces ready, I can finally rest in peace and hope for only the best of luck when the time comes to hand over the works to the faculty.

Today, Kinko’s messed up my printing order for my latest work of 10 pieces (around an estimated $160 charge that I declined to pay for) and I have decided to stay away from them from now on. It makes me realize how great media services is at St. Norbert College. The quality of their printing cannot be beat anywhere. Plus, as a student, you get about 50% off the market prices which is always a kicker. Why choose anything else? I guess I learned my lesson. When I get back to school, I’ll have it all printed for probably $80 tops. I would’ve hate to spend the majority of my 21st birthday money on printing costs.

Also, I appologize for being slow on the following information. As 2007 faded out into the brilliant, gleaming new year of 2008, I produced three new one hour vocal EDM mixes that tie in nicely with the snowy season. Together, they make up a project entitled “The Winter Triad” which represents three sides of winter I have been thinking about. There’s the side of missing people, the side of contemplating the beauty of nature, and then the side of questioning what is to come and looking back on what has been. Feel free to bring it up in our next conversation for more details! Anyways, up first is the ultra long progression with Mix 1 - Snowlight (The Sincere Winter Mix), a vocal trance mix that is both deep and powerful. It’s lyrical work is potent and straight from the heart. This mix is best paired with candlelight in the late hours of the night. Second up is a mystical session known as Mix 2 - Stardust (The Winter Understanding Mix), a trance set that truly speaks without words and helps you to understand the grace of the season and what it implies. Just short of an hour, this mix is overflowing with uplifting, melodic and overall magical sounds. Surely it will put a smile on your face and lighten your spirit! Last but not least is the juggernaut of pure feeling titled Mix 3 - Eternal (The Winter Reconciliation Mix). Eternal is a vocal trance mix presenting some highly emotional content that may very well bring you to tears. It is my pleasure to bring you some of the most impressive tracks of the past several years with this progression. Enjoy the reconciliation in peace! With that said, what are you waiting for my friends? Please lend an ear to the mixes and leave some feedback either here or on my facebook group, “PLURALITY -with- SOULDIER VII.” All information regarding DJ’ing shows, gigs, events, and mixes will be kept updated there, so check it out to see what’s going on in the underground scene. Also note that I will be posting a new page dedicated to these new mixes on this site (complete with designs and tracklists) as soon as I take some winter photographs with my new Manfrotto tripod. May 2008 bring forward many great mixes from DJ’s and artists everywhere, as well as a plethora of killer gigs by top notch acts such as Daft Punk, Infected Mushroom, and Above & Beyond! Let’s pray for the best!

Tomorrow my buddies David Baierl and Mike Johnson come to the cities to kick it at my place for a couple days! I’m so pumped to see these guys and have some great times with them before second semester begins! Everyone else, it’s been wonderful hanging out with you and seeing your charming faces after being away for so long. It brings me great happiness to hear that everyone is doing well, in good health, and working hard. Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect to all ye souls under the starry skies above.

May compassion and loving kindness find all hearts — both thriving and broken.
